evam uktvā gato devaḥ svayaṃ cāham ihāgataḥ | upadiṣṭaṃ tu bhavato 'putrasya viśeṣataḥ | upoṣya labhate putraṃ sahabhāryo na saṃśayaḥ || 46.14 ||
Varāha (default, based on primary dialogue framework)
It reflects a common Purāṇic motif in which specific observances (vrata/upoṣa) are presented as culturally sanctioned means to address household concerns such as lineage and progeny, illustrating the text’s integration of ritual practice with social ideals.
No geographic location is explicitly named in this verse fragment; it focuses on instruction regarding fasting and the aim of obtaining a son.
The verse frames disciplined observance—specifically fasting—as an efficacious practice recommended for a householder situation (childlessness), emphasizing purposeful self-restraint within a family-dharma context.
