The Origin of Rudra, the Disruption of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice, and the Establishment of Paśupati
एवं रुद्रस्य सम्भूतिः सम्भूता ब्रह्मणः पुरा । अनेनैव प्रयोगेन देवानां पतिरुच्यते ॥ ३३.३१ ॥
evaṃ rudrasya saṃbhūtiḥ saṃbhūtā brahmaṇaḥ purā | anenaiva prayogena devānāṃ patir ucyate || 33.31 ||
पहले के टाइम में ब्रह्मा से रुद्र पैदा हुआ। इसी तरह से उनको देवताओं का मास्टर बोला जाता है।
Varāha (default speaker per dialogue framework)
It exemplifies a common Purāṇic strategy of presenting deity genealogies—linking Rudra’s emergence to Brahmā—while also explaining an epithet (“lord of the gods”) through textual usage (prayoga), reflecting how titles are justified within the narrative tradition.
No geographic location is specified in this verse; the content is cosmological and genealogical rather than tied to a named tīrtha or region.
The verse does not present a direct ethical injunction; its philosophical function is classificatory—situating Rudra’s origin and clarifying a theological epithet through conventional expression.
