imamevārtham uddiśya prajāḥ sarvā mahīpate | ūcuḥ kamalajaṃ viṣṇuṃ purāṇaṃ brahmasaṃjñitam || 24.11 ||
राजा, यह बात सोच के सब लोगों ने विष्णु से बात की। विष्णु जो कमल से पैदा हुए थे। उन्होंने पुराण की बात की जिसका नाम ब्रह्मा है।
Varāha (default dialogue framework; speaker not explicit in excerpt)
It preserves a common Purāṇic technique of textual self-identification and attribution, indicating how audiences and compilers classified a work (here, as “Brahma”-designated) within the wider Purāṇa tradition.
No geographic location is named in this verse; it focuses on narrative attribution and the speaking community (“all the people”) addressing a central figure.
The verse does not present a direct ethical rule; its primary function is contextual—showing collective inquiry/speech directed toward an authoritative source and naming the textual tradition being referenced.
