Description of the Māhātmya of Gokarṇeśvara and Jaleśvara (Śaileśvara) in the Śleṣmātaka Forest
mūlakṣetraṃ tu vijñeyaṃ rudreṇādhiṣṭhitaṃ svayam || tatra pūrvottare pārśve vāsukir nāma nāgarāṭ
Varāha (default, instructional voice)
It records a layered sacred landscape where multiple deities/guardians (Rudra and nāga figures) are associated with a single precinct, reflecting syncretic shrine geographies.
A directional marker within the kṣetra is given (northeast side), but the broader site-name is not explicit in this excerpt.
It encourages informed entry into sacred space by recognizing its presiding powers and guardians.
