agniṣṭomaphalaṁ tatra snātamātraḥ prapadyate || ṣaṣṭiṁ dhenusahasrāṇi yāni rakṣanti vāgmatīm
Varāha (default, instructor voice in the Varāha–Pṛthivī dialogue frame)
It continues the Purāṇic pattern of equating pilgrimage bathing with high Vedic sacrificial merit (Agniṣṭoma), and introduces a protective motif (symbolic guardianship of the river).
The Vāgmatī river is explicitly named; the verse associates it with a mythic protective framework (‘sixty thousand cows’).
The passage underscores the cultural value placed on protecting and honoring river systems, expressed through symbolic guardianship and ritual merit.
