Description of the Māhātmya of Gokarṇeśvara and Jaleśvara (Śaileśvara) in the Śleṣmātaka Forest
saśarīro 'haṁ yuṣmābhir vaśāptaḥ pragatas tv itaḥ || śṛṅgamātreṇa santuṣṭā bhavantas tena vañcitāḥ ||
The wondrous mṛga / unseen speaker
It articulates a classic Sanskrit narrative lesson: grasping a token (the horn) while losing the whole reveals the limits of coercive control.
No location is named; the departure is expressed with 'from here' (itaḥ).
Do not confuse partial gain with true attainment; satisfaction with a mere fragment can indicate self-deception.
