Description of the Māhātmya of Gokarṇeśvara and Jaleśvara (Śaileśvara) in the Śleṣmātaka Forest
snānasya taddaśaguṇaṃ bhaved atra na saṃśayaḥ || atra vidyādharāḥ siddhā gandharvā munayaḥ surāḥ
Varāha (default, instructor voice)
It reflects a common Purāṇic tīrtha-māhātmya convention: sacred places are described as frequented by semi-divine beings, and ritual bathing is quantified as producing multiplied merit.
The verse uses the deictic 'atra' (“here”) without naming the site in this line; the broader passage (nearby verses) points to a named kṣetra later identified as Gokarṇeśvara.
The instruction is to value disciplined ritual practice (bathing at a tīrtha) as a culturally meaningful act associated with place-based heritage.
