Naciketas’ Journey to Yama’s Abode and the Eulogy of Truthfulness
sūta uvāca || evaṃ pṛṣṭo mahātejās tena rājñā dvijottamaḥ || uvāca madhuraṃ vākyaṃ rājānaṃ janamejayam
Sūta
The verse signals an oral-transmission style frame (Sūta as narrator), a hallmark of Purāṇic composition and redaction, emphasizing authority through layered speakers.
No geographic location is specified; the verse functions as a narrative transition into the sage’s reply.
Indirectly, it underscores disciplined inquiry: ethical knowledge is presented as learned through respectful questioning and authoritative response.
