Naciketas’ Journey to Yama’s Abode and the Eulogy of Truthfulness
atha naciketaḥ prayāṇavarṇanam || lomaharṣaṇa uvāca || vyāsaśiṣyaṃ mahāprājñaṃ vedavedāṅgapāragam || dvāradeśe samāsīnaṃ kṛtapūrvāhnikakriyam
Lomaharṣaṇa (explicit)
It provides a narrative framing device identifying Lomaharṣaṇa as speaker and highlighting scholastic credentials (Veda/Vedāṅga mastery), useful for studying Purāṇic self-presentation and modes of authority.
Only a generic setting is given—'dvāradeśa' (gateway area). No specific historical toponym is named.
The verse foregrounds disciplined learning and regular observance of daily rites as markers of exemplary conduct within the narrative world.
