Varāha
Purity is cultivated through disciplined, rule-aligned devotional action; practice shapes character.
Treat ritual correctness as a means to humility and self-discipline (śauca), not mere formalism; document and transmit procedures accurately.
Purification through prescribed action reflects the cosmic order upheld by Viṣṇu: dharma is not arbitrary but a harmonizing structure; the devotee becomes ‘fit’ (yogya) as the microcosm aligns with the macrocosm.
Vidhi as the ‘yajña-skeleton’ supporting offerings; śuddhi as the clarified state akin to clarified butter (ghṛta) in yajña—refined, luminous, fit for offering.
Karma performed as worship (bhagavad-arpita) becomes a purifier (citta-śuddhi), preparing for knowledge and devotion.
Offer all auspicious items enjoined for worship; rule-governed action (vidhi-dṛṣṭa karma) purifies the Bhāgavata devotee.
Observance produces śuddhi (inner/outer purity), eligibility for further worship and spiritual progress; disregard leads to impurity/ritual ineligibility and reduced devotional fruit.
