The Curse of Sāmba and the Prescribed Observance of Sun-Worship
evaṃ sāmbapuraṃ nāma mathurāyāṃ kuleśvaram || rathayātrāṃ tathā kṛtvā raviṇā kathitā yadā
Varāha (default narrative voice to Pṛthivī framework)
It preserves place-names and festival practices as part of a cultural memory system, useful for reconstructing historical sacred geographies and ritual calendars.
Mathurā is named; “Sāmbapura” appears as a locality or sacred precinct associated with Mathurā in the text’s tradition.
It suggests communal continuity through orderly public rites (such as ratha-yātrā) as a form of cultural stewardship.
