The Māhātmya of Kṛṣṇagaṅgodbhava, Kāliñjara, and the Five Sacred Baths: The Tale of Pāñcāla and Tilottamā
दत्त्वा दानं यथाशक्ति सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते ॥ कालिञ्जरे च द्वादश्यां स्नात्वा सम्पूज्य देवताम्
dattvā dānaṃ yathāśakti sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyate || kāliñjare ca dvādaśyāṃ snātvā saṃpūjya devatām
जितना हो सके उतना दान देना। इससे सारे पाप धुल जाते हैं। कालिंजर में भी द्वादशी को नहा के भगवान की पूजा करो।
Varāha (contextual default; speaker not explicitly marked in this verse)
It links ethical economy (giving within one’s means) with pilgrimage practice, and it preserves the toponym Kāliñjara, relevant to the study of medieval/early sacred landscapes.
Kāliñjara is named (often associated by scholars with the Kālinjar region/fort area in present-day Uttar Pradesh–Madhya Pradesh vicinity; precise identification depends on historical-geographic scholarship).
Charity proportionate to capacity (yathāśakti-dāna) is presented as a key moral discipline, paired with respectful conduct at heritage sacred sites.
