The Māhātmya of Kṛṣṇagaṅgodbhava, Kāliñjara, and the Five Sacred Baths: The Tale of Pāñcāla and Tilottamā
cakrāṅkitapadā tena sthānaṃ brahmasamaṃ śubham | anyatra hi kṛtaṃ pāpaṃ tīrtham āsādya gacchati ||
Aśarīriṇī vāk (continuation implied)
It shows how Purāṇic texts encode sacred topography through iconographic markers (footprints) and a theory of place-based moral transformation.
A specific ‘place with discus-marked footprints’ is referenced but not named in the excerpt; it likely denotes a localized tīrtha within the Mathurā-Kṛṣṇa landscape.
The verse presents tīrtha-visit as a means of moral recalibration, while also implying a hierarchy of sacred places.
