mahāvidyeśvarī devī ārakṣaṃ pāpakaṃ haret || kṣetrasya rakṣaṇārthaṃ hi yātrāyāḥ siddhidāṃ nṛṇām ||
Varāha (default dialogue framework)
It reflects Purāṇic pilgrimage culture where a deity is framed as the guardian of a kṣetra (heritage-sacred landscape) and as the guarantor of yātrā-siddhi (successful completion of pilgrimage).
The verse refers generically to a kṣetra (sacred region) without naming it in this line; the surrounding verses in the chapter indicate a network of named shrines and waters.
Protection of a sacred landscape is presented as culturally valuable; the verse links personal conduct (removal of pāpa) with responsible participation in pilgrimage.
