The Sacred Merit of Goniṣkramaṇa
the Tīrtha of the Cows’ Emergence/Release
tiṣṭhāmi parayā prītyā diśaṃ pūrvām upāśritaḥ || paścimena vahed gaṅgāṃ niṣkāmena vasundhare ||
Varāha
It showcases Purāṇic methods of locating sacred regions through cardinal directions and rivers, useful for reconstructing pilgrimage imaginaries and cultural landscapes.
The Gaṅgā is explicitly named as flowing on the western side; the precise kṣetra name is not included in the excerpt.
It associates the sacred setting with niṣkāma orientation—acting or seeking without self-centered desire.
