The Greatness of the Śālagrāma Sacred Region
paśyatastasya vasudhe tatraivāntarhito ’bhavam || vṛkṣaṃ dakṣiṇataḥ kṛtvā jagāma svāśramaṃ muniḥ ||
Varāha
It preserves a typical Purāṇic narrative device—divine disappearance and a sage’s return—used to frame tīrtha descriptions as transmitted testimony.
The verse itself does not name the location; it functions as a transition into the Śālagrāma-kṣetra section described in the surrounding verses.
Implicitly, it models disciplined conduct and directional observance during movement in a sacred landscape.
