susvadhety āśiṣā yuktāṃ dadyāc chaktyā ca dakṣiṇām | dattvā ca dakṣiṇāṃ tebhyo vācayed vaiśvadevikān | prīyantām iti ye viśve devās tena itīrayet || 14.38 ||
Varāha (default attribution within the Varāha–Pṛthivī dialogue framework)
It reflects a Purāṇic preservation of Smārta/Gṛhya-style household ritual norms—especially the etiquette of dakṣiṇā (honorarium) and the formal closure of offerings with recitations invoking the Viśve Devas.
No geographic location is explicitly mentioned in this verse; the content is procedural/ritual rather than topographical.
To give dakṣiṇā in proportion to one’s means and to conclude the rite with a respectful, formulaic intention that the invoked deities (Viśve Devas) be satisfied—emphasizing capacity-based giving and ritual courtesy.
