Spatial discipline (madhya-sthāpana, pūrva-mukhatā) mirrors mental centering and orientation toward illumination (east).
In any sādhana, establish a ‘center’ (focus object/intent) and face a consistent direction to reduce distraction and strengthen saṅkalpa.
After propitiating the guru with the mantra, the disciple should place the intended ritual focus in the center of the vedi and proceed facing east.
Correct orientation and placement support ritual validity and auspicious results; wrong placement/direction introduces doṣa and diminishes efficacy.
Varāha Purāṇa 127.61–62 (propitiation mantra); Varāha Purāṇa 127.64–65 (kamandalu/yajñopavīta step and mantra)
It indicates standardized spatial ritual conventions (altar center, east-facing posture) that help compare Purāṇic ritual instructions with later paddhatis.
No location is named; the verse concerns ritual space (the vedi) rather than external geography.
The emphasis is on disciplined, orderly performance—following prescribed steps after seeking consent/propitiation.
