The Greatness of Kubjāmraka: Raibhya’s Boon and the Teaching on the Sacred Tīrthas
etadeva paraṃ citte mayā caiva vidhāryate || upendra yadi tuṣṭo ’si mamāyaṃ dīyatāṃ varaḥ ||
Pṛthivī (default framework; supplicatory address to Upendra)
It preserves a common Purāṇic narrative device: a petitioner frames a request (vara) to a divine figure, often to introduce a tīrtha’s origin story and cultural-historical valuation.
No location is named in this half-verse; it functions as a transition into a boon-request that later anchors a tīrtha narrative.
The verse models deliberation and restraint—presenting a request as a considered mental resolve rather than an impulsive demand.
