Hymn to Varāha and Pṛthivī’s Inquiry
Prelude to the Sanatkumāra Dialogue
māṃ tvaṃ magnām asi trātuṃ lokanātha ihārhasi || ādikālātmakaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ sarvalokātmako vibhuḥ ||
Pṛthivī (default; petition aligns strongly with Earth-in-distress motif)
The supplication resonates with the wider Varāha Purāṇa theme of Earth’s peril and restoration, making it valuable for studying Purāṇic environmental symbolism and rescue narratives.
No specific place is named; the verse uses the cosmic title “lord of the world” and the immediacy marker “here” (iha).
It frames protection of the vulnerable (here, the Earth-persona) as a central responsibility of rightful lordship, supporting stewardship-oriented readings.
