Praise of Varāha and Pṛthivī’s Foundational Questions
keśavaḥ pātu me pādau jaṅghe nārāyaṇo mama | mādhavo me kaṭiṃ pātu govindo guhyam eva ca || 1.25 ||
Varāha (default attribution within the Varāha–Pṛthivī dialogue framework)
It exemplifies a widely attested Purāṇic and stotra-style convention: assigning divine epithets to protect specific body parts (aṅga-rakṣā), reflecting devotional and ritualized Sanskrit prayer practices.
No geographic location is named in this verse; it is structured as a protective invocation focused on the body (aṅga) rather than sacred topography.
Rather than an explicit ethical rule, the verse conveys a philosophical-ritual posture of seeking protection through disciplined remembrance (smaraṇa) of divine names, framed as a method of personal safeguarding and composure.
