Yagyavalkya Upanishad: Verse 10
यो भवेत् पूर्वसंन्यासी तुल्यो वै धर्मतो यदि । तस्मै प्रणामः कर्तव्यो नेतराय कदाचन ॥१०॥
यः । भवेत् । पूर्व-संन्यासी । तुल्यः । वै । धर्मतः । यदि । तस्मै । प्रणामः । कर्तव्यः । न । इतराय । कदाचन ॥
yo bhavet pūrva-saṃnyāsī tulyo vai dharmato yadi | tasmai praṇāmaḥ kartavyo netarāya kadācana ||10||
अगर कोई पहले से संन्यास लिए हुआ है और उसका धरम बिल्कुल सही है, तो उसको नमस्ते करना चाहिए। जो ऐसा नहीं है उसको कभी भी नमस्ते नहीं करना। सिर्फ़ सच्चे संन्यासी को रेस्पेक्ट देनी चाहिए।
If there is one who is an earlier renunciant, and if he is indeed equal in dharma (conduct/discipline), to him a salutation should be made—never to another (who is not so qualified).
