Sanyasa Upanishad 5: Verse 5

आरूढपतितापत्यं कुनखी श्यावदन्तकः । क्षीबस्तथाङ्गविकलो नैव संन्यस्तुमर्हति ॥५॥

IAST Transliteration

ārūḍha-patita-apatyaṃ ku-nakhī śyāva-dantakaḥ | kṣībaḥ tathā ’ṅga-vikalo naiva saṃnyastum arhati ||5||

Translation

जिसका बच्चा उस औरत से हो जो किसी और के साथ चली गई, उसको संन्यास नहीं मिलना चाहिए। जिसके नाख बिगड़े हैं या दाँत काले हैं, वो भी संन्यास के लायक नहीं। जो शराब पीता है, उसको भी संन्यास नहीं देना चाहिए। जिसका शरीर ठीक से काम नहीं करता, वो भी संन्यास के हकदार नहीं।

Academic Translation

One who has offspring from a woman who has mounted (another man) and is fallen, one with deformed nails, one with darkened teeth, a drunkard, and likewise one physically impaired—none of these is fit to undertake renunciation.
