Recitation with translationSanyasa Upanishad 2.22

brahmacaryaṃ samāpya gṛhī bhūtvā vānaprasthāśramam etya vairāgyābhāve 'py āśrama-kramānusāreṇa yaḥ saṃnyasyati sa karma-saṃnyāsī॥22॥

Having completed studentship, becoming a householder, and reaching the stage of forest-dweller, even in the absence of dispassion, one who renounces in accordance with the sequential order of the āśramas—he is a renouncer of action (karma-saṃnyāsī).

Yoga and practice

Encourages discernment between external lifestyle change and inner vairāgya; suggests preparatory disciplines (yama-niyama, meditation, svādhyāya) to mature dispassion if renunciation is taken by convention; supports gradual purification (citta-śuddhi).
