Verse 2.11.1
मनो हिंकारो वाक् प्रस्तावश्चक्षुरुद्गीथः श्रोत्रं प्रतिहारः प्राणो निधनम्। एतद्गायत्रं प्राणेषु प्रोतम्॥२.११.१॥
देखो, दिमाग यहाँ हिंकार है, जैसे शुरू होता है। ज़बान प्रस्तव है, आगे बढ़ाता है। आँखें उद्गीथ है, मैन गाना। कान प्रतिहार है, जो संभालता है। और साँस निधन है, जो अंत में आता है। यह गायत्री साँसों में पिरी हुई है।

स एवमेतद्गायत्रं प्राणेषु प्रोतं वेद प्राणी भवति सर्वमायुरेति ज्योग्जीवति महान्प्रजया पशुभिर्भवति महान्कीर्त्या महामनाः स्यात्। तद्व्रतम्॥२.११.२॥
जो यह गायत्री को साँसों में पिरा हुआ जानता है, उसकी साँस में ताकत आती है। वो पूरा उम्र जीता है, लंबी ज़िंदगी पाता है। उसके बच्चे और धन बढ़ते हैं, उसकी कीर्ति फैलती है। उसका मन बड़ा हो जाता है। यह उसका व्रत है।
