It preserves sacred lineage (vaṃśa) memory: by naming successors, the Purana anchors dharma in time and shows how human history unfolds under the higher sovereignty of Pati (Śiva), even when the verse itself is genealogical.
Genealogies in the Shiva Purana often frame who later establishes temples, performs vows, or receives Śiva’s grace; thus, this verse functions as narrative scaffolding for future Saguna-Śiva devotion and linga-centered acts of merit described in surrounding sections.
No specific rite is directly prescribed in this verse; the practical takeaway is to continue daily Shaiva observances—japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), vibhūti (tripuṇḍra), and linga-pūjā—while studying the Purana as a dharmic remembrance.
