Soma Pavamāna (Hari/Indu)
This short Pavamāna hymn praises Soma as he is purified—rushing like a swift steed to the trough, shining, and becoming fit for offering. It portrays the pressing and straining as a sacred “polishing” by sisterly powers, after which Soma swells abundance, strengthens vitality, and grants wealth and a safe passage through life to the praiser.

साकमुक्षो मर्जयन्त स्वसारो दश धीरस्य धीतयो धनुत्रीः । हरिः पर्यद्रवज्जाः सूर्यस्य द्रोणं ननक्षे अत्यो न वाजी ॥
बहनें मिलकर उस बैल को साफ कर रही हैं। दस लोग हैं जो धनुष लेके खड़े हैं, जो पक्के इरादे वाले हैं। वो पीला रंग का है, सूरज से पैदा हुआ, और दौड़ता है। वो पानी के कुंड तक पहुँचता है जैसे तेज़ घोड़ा दौड़ता है।

सं मातृभिर्न शिशुर्वावशानो वृषा दधन्वे पुरुवारो अद्भिः । मर्यो न योषामभि निष्कृतं यन्त्सं गच्छते कलश उस्रियाभिः ॥
वो बच्चे की तरह है जो अपनी माँ के पास जाना चाहता है। वो बैल पानी के साथ चल पड़ा है, उसके पास बहुत कुछ है। वो जवान लड़के की तरह है जो लड़की के पास जाता है, जहाँ सब तैयार है। वो मटके में चमकती धाराओं के साथ आ मिलता है।

उत प्र पिप्य ऊधरघ्न्याया इन्दुर्धाराभिः सचते सुमेधाः । मूर्धानं गावः पयसा चमूष्वभि श्रीणन्ति वसुभिर्न निक्तैः ॥
यह सोम रस गाय का दूध बढ़ा देता है, वो गाय जो कभी खराब नहीं हुई। यह बूंद बहुत समझदार है, पानी के साथ साथ चलती है। गायें कटोरों में दूध से इसका सिर मलते हैं, जैसे कोई खज़ाना धो के साफ किया हो, इसमें चमक और ताकत भर देती हैं।

स नो देवेभिः पवमान रदेन्दो रयिमश्विनं वावशानः । रथिरायतामुशती पुरंधिरस्मद्र्यगा दावने वसूनाम् ॥
हे इंदु, तू पानी जैसा साफ हो, देवियों के साथ हमें पैसा दे। वो पैसा जल्दी आए, चमके, और हमारा दिल माँगे। जो भी सच्चा खज़ाना बाँटने का टाइम आए, वो खुशी भरके हमारे पास आए।

नू नो रयिमुप मास्व नृवन्तं पुनानो वाताप्यं विश्वश्चन्द्रम् । प्र वन्दितुरिन्दो तार्यायुः प्रातर्मक्षू धियावसुर्जगम्यात् ॥
अभी ले आ वो पैसा जिसमें ताकत हो, तू जो साफ कर रहा है। यह ताज़ा हवा जैसा है, सबको चमकाता है। जो लोग तेरी तारीफ करते हैं, वो ज़िंदगी में आगे निकल जाएँ। सुबह जल्दी ही वो समझदार और अमीर बनके पहुँच जाएँ।
