Soma Pavamāna
This short Soma Pavamāna hymn celebrates the pressed Soma as it streams forth in exhilarating power, entering the ritual gathering and bringing fame, inspired hearing, and upliftment to the patrons and singers. Soma is praised as a radiant force that illumines both worlds, rushes like a swift creature, and finally “seats” itself in the womb of Ṛta (cosmic order). The hymn culminates in a direct request that Soma establish luminous glory, winning increase, intelligence (medhā), and enduring renown (śravas) in the worshippers.

प्र सोमासो मदच्युतः श्रवसे नो मघोनः । सुता विदथे अक्रमुः ॥
सोम रस निकल के बाहर आ रहा है। यह हमारे लिए खुशी और नाम लाता है। यह उस जगह पहुँच रहा है जहाँ सब लोग भगवान की बात सुनते हैं।

आदीं त्रितस्य योषणो हरिं हिन्वन्त्यद्रिभिः । इन्दुमिन्द्राय पीतये ॥
त्रित की बेटियाँ सोम को पकड़ के पिसाती हैं। यह सोम पीला रंग का है और चमकता है। वो उसे इंद्र के लिए तैयार कर रही हैं। इंद्र को यह पीना है ताकि वो जीत सके। यह एक छुपा हुआ मज़ा है जो सामने आ रहा है।

आदीं हंसो यथा गणं विश्वस्यावीवशन्मतिम् । अत्यो न गोभिरज्यते ॥
आसमान का हंस सबको जगाता है। वो सबकी सोच खुलवा देता है। उसपर रोशनी चमक रही है जैसे कोई तेज़ घोड़ा तेल लगा के चमक रहा हो। वो सबको अपनी तरफ खींचता है।

उभे सोमावचाकशन्मृगो न तक्तो अर्षसि । सीदन्नृतस्य योनिमा ॥
सोम, तुम दोनों दुनिया को चमका देते हो। तुम भाग रहे हो जैसे कोई जानवर शिकार पर भागता है। फिर तुम जा के उस जगह बैठ जाते हो जो सही है। वो जगह सच्चाई का घर है।

अभि गावो अनूषत योषा जारमिव प्रियम् । अगन्नाजिं यथा हितम् ॥
रोशनी की किरणें उसकी तरफ भाग रही हैं। वो खुश होकर चिल्ला रही हैं। जैसे कोई नई दुल्हन अपने पिया के पास जाती है, वैसे ही वो जा रही हैं। वो उस मकसद तक पहुँच रही हैं जो उनके लिए बना है।

अस्मे धेहि द्युमद्यशो मघवद्भ्यश्च मह्यं च । सनिं मेधामुत श्रवः ॥
हमें भी वो चमक दे जो सबको दिखे। जो लोग दान देते हैं उनको भी दे, और मुझे भी दे। हमें बुद्धि दे ताकि हम जीत सकें। हमारा नाम इतना बना कि लोग सुनते रहें।
