aháṃ huvānā́ ārkṣe śrutárvaṇi madá-cyuti | śárdhāṃsīva stukāvinā́ṃ mṛkṣā́ śī́rṣā caturṇā́m ||

Outer meaning

The speaker, calling in the eagle-related (ārkṣa) movement and in the ‘heard-moving’ surge that releases intoxication/delight, crushes clustered forces—like crushing the heads of four (enemies/forces).

Inner meaning

The ‘Eagle’ (often the sun-bird, also a Soma-bringer image) symbolizes the soaring consciousness that can seize the supramental/light-bearing delight. ‘Śrutarvaṇi’ suggests a movement that is ‘heard’—the mantra-current, the inner sound-stream of inspiration. ‘Madacyuti’ is the releasing of delight (mada) as a power that dislodges rigidity. The poet’s act of ‘crushing heads of four’ can be read psychologically as breaking the fourfold obstruction: physical inertia, vital desire-distortion, mental doubt/confusion, and subconscient fear—clustered resistances that block ascent and revelation.

Universal truth

When higher consciousness is invoked and delight is released as force, entrenched patterns of resistance collapse; spiritual victory often requires a decisive breaking of the ‘heads’ (governing nodes) of habitual obstruction.

Themes

obstacle-breaking, ecstatic force, first-person yogic assertion

Family tradition

Ecstatic-poetic tradition where the seer participates actively in the victory by invocation and inner force.

Significance

Shows the rishi not as a passive praiser but as an operative consciousness: invocation, ascent (eagle), delight-force, and the breaking of resistances.

Devata
Mixed/implicit: Soma-Eagle motif with Agni/Indra-like overcoming; operative seer-force in foreground
Epithets
madacyuti (delight-releaser, as power)
Related deities
Soma, Indra, Agni, Garuḍa-like eagle symbolism (later iconographic echo)

Cosmic role

Soma/Eagle brings the nectar of immortality; Agni/Indra powers effect the breaking of hostile formations.

Inner power

Ascending inspiration plus bliss-force that can ‘crush’ rigid formations in the nature.

Where it is used

Recitation accompanying a forceful pressing/advancing moment (Soma pressing or energetic offering), where the poet asserts the breaking of obstacles through invoked power.
