Sukta 8.2
यजध्वैनं प्रियमेधा इन्द्रं सत्राचा मनसा । यो भूत्सोमैः सत्यमद्वा ॥
yájadhvainam priya-medhā índraṃ satrā́cā mánasā | yó bhūt sómaiḥ satyá-madvā ||
इंद्र को पूजा करो जो सच्चा ज्ञान चाहते हैं। वो हमेशा आगे बढ़ने वाला है। सोम रस से भगवान सच्चाई में मगन हो जाते हैं।
Offer sacrifice to Indra, you lovers of dear intelligence, with an ever-advancing mind; he who becomes, by the Somas, the truly intoxicated (with truth).
The call is to yaj—inner sacrifice: offer thoughts, energies, and works to Indra, the divine Mind. Priya-medhāḥ are those who love the true/intimate intelligence (medhā) and therefore can worship with a mind that moves always forward (satrācā manasā), not turning back into doubt. Through Soma-forces (delight-essences, intensities of consciousness) Indra becomes satya-madvā—filled with truth-delight in us, establishing an intoxication that is clarity, not confusion.
True progress requires a forward-moving mind and the offering of one’s nature to higher intelligence; when delight is purified into Soma, it intoxicates with truth and strengthens realization.
exhortation to worship, Soma-joy, truth-intoxication
Kaṇva hymns often unite Indra and Soma: illumination is strengthened by delight; worship is framed as a collective inner discipline (yajadhva).
Kaṇva’s approach is practical mysticism: the mind must advance steadily, and bliss (Soma) is not indulgence but a power that makes truth operative.
Receives Soma, grows in power, and conquers obstruction; distributes luminous gains to the sacrificers.
Progressive intelligence energized by delight; a mind-force that becomes ecstatically truthful and thus capable of decisive transformation.
Soma-yajña context: Indra praised as Soma-drinker; exhortation to the priests/chanters.

4×12 (approx.)
Flowing and exhortative; supports collective invocation and sustained forward movement.
Creates an uplifting momentum; encourages steady aspiration and sweet intensity (Soma-tone) without agitation.
Direct exhortation to offer Soma and mind-worship; reinforces Soma pressing and Indra’s truthful exhilaration
During Soma offering sequences and Indra-Soma praises; also as a communal call to worship.
Collective chant accompanying offering of Soma and oblations.
Group meditation opening: consecrate the session to higher intelligence; cultivate ‘forward mind’ and invoke truth-delight rather than emotional excitation.
√yaj ‘sacrifice, worship’ (PIE *h₁yeh₁g- ‘worship’ often proposed). medhā: ‘intelligence, wisdom’ possibly from √medh ‘to be wise/measure’—inner faculty of luminous discernment. satrā́cā: from satrā ‘together/continually’ + √añc ‘move’ → ‘ever-advancing’. madvā from √mad ‘be exhilarated’—Soma as delight-power; satya-madvā = delight grounded in truth, not vital excess.
Medhā (luminous intelligence), Satya (truth), Ananda (mad/joy) disciplined by truth
satrācā (straight/continuous) evokes ṛta as right directionality of consciousness.
satya-madvā: delight must be married to truth; ecstasy becomes a vehicle of satya.
By offering and delight, the divine Mind is ‘made’ in us—becomes active and formative.
Integral Yoga reading: yajña as self-offering; Soma as ananda fueling higher mind/intuition.
Soma corresponds to purified bliss-current; sacrifice corresponds to conscious self-giving; forward movement corresponds to the sunward ascent of awareness.
Self-offering to higher intelligence; cultivate a ‘straight-forward mind’ and invite purified delight to fill thought with truth.
anāhata (delight)
slow coherent breathing (5–6 breaths/min) while mentally offering each exhale
Progressive aspiration with luminous joy (ānanda with clarity).
Begin with a brief inner offering (yajña): ‘May my thought and action be for Truth.’ Chant; on ‘somaiḥ’ feel sweetness rise; on ‘satya-madvā’ let joy become clear, quiet, and discerning.
Observe Vedic accenting; keep the imperative yajadhva crisp; maintain sandhi in yo bhūt (no extra vowel).
Sustain a gentle rise through satrācā manasā; let satya-madvā be voiced with clarity, not intoxicated slur.
yajadhva: j is voiced; dh aspirated, priya-medhāḥ: medhā with dh aspirate; final ḥ lightly aspirated, satrācā: long ā; avoid ‘satrāchā’ over-palatalization, somaiḥ: diphthong ai; visarga ḥ as soft breath
Warm, luminous, devotional yet firm.
