Indra
Triṣṭubh (probable)
This brief Indra-hymn of Vasiṣṭha invokes Indra as the foundational power whom seekers call when they yoke their thoughts toward the farther goal. It praises Indra’s kingship over the diverse world and asks him to drive wealth and protection toward the worshipper—symbolized as cows, horses, and chariots—granting wide space (varivas) and lasting well-being (svasti).

Mantra 1
इन्द्रं नरो नेमधिता हवन्ते यत्पार्या युनजते धियस्ताः । शूरो नृषाता शवसश्चकान आ गोमति व्रजे भजा त्वं नः ॥
लोग इंद्र को पुकारते हैं जब वो अपनी सोच को आगे के गोल से जोड़ते हैं। हे बहादुर, तू इंसानों को जीता है और ताकत में खुश है। हमें भी अपने पास वहाँ ले आ जहाँ गाय और ज्ञान की ढेरी है।

य इन्द्र शुष्मो मघवन्ते अस्ति शिक्षा सखिभ्यः पुरुहूत नृभ्यः । त्वं हि दृळ्हा मघवन्विचेता अपा वृधि परिवृतं न राधः ॥
हे इंद्र, जो तेरी ताकत है, वो देने वाली है। अपने दोस्तों को और इंसानों को सिखाओ। तू पक्का है और समझदार है। जो दौलत बंदी हुई है उसको खोल और बढ़ा।

इन्द्रो राजा जगतश्चर्षणीनामधि क्षमि विषुरूपं यदस्ति । ततो ददाति दाशुषे वसूनि चोदद्राध उपस्तुतश्चिदर्वाक् ॥
इंद्र सब जगह का राजा है। सारी दुनिया के लोगों पे उसकी सत्ता है। धरती पे जो भी अलग-अलग चीज़ें हैं, सब पे उसका राज है। इस सत्ता से वो दाने वालों को देताता है। लोग नीचे से भी उसकी तारीफ करते हैं, वो उनकी सुनता है और उनको देता है।

नू चिन्न इन्द्रो मघवा सहूती दानो वाजं नि यमते न ऊती । अनूना यस्य दक्षिणा पीपाय वामं नृभ्यो अभिवीता सखिभ्यः ॥
अभी भी इंद्र हम सबकी पूजा सुनता है। वो ताकत को रोक के रखता है ताकि हमें मदद मिले। उसका देना कभी खत्म नहीं होता, वो बढ़ता रहता है। वो लोगों को वो चीज़ देता है जो उनको चाहिए, जो उसके साथी हैं उनको भी।

नू इन्द्र राये वरिवस्कृधी न आ ते मनो ववृत्याम मघाय । गोमदश्वावद्रथवद्व्यन्तो यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥
अब इंद्र हमारे लिए जगह बना दे। हमारा मन तेरे पास रहे, तू जो देता है उसके लिए। गाय, घोड़े, रथ, यह सब दे। तू हमेशा हमारा ख्याल रखता रहे, हमारा भला करता रहे।
