Indra
Triṣṭubh (probable)
This short Indra-hymn invites the many-invoked Lord to the prepared seat in the rite, asking him to come with his powers, delight in the brahman (sacred utterance), and strengthen the worshippers with victorious force. The poet petitions for protection, widening of space (removal of pressures/obstacles), riches, and the energizing impulse that sustains generous patrons and heroic offspring. It closes with a prayer for lasting well-being (svasti) under Indra and his allied divine helpers.

योनिष्ट इन्द्र सदने अकारि तमा नृभिः पुरुहूत प्र याहि । असो यथा नोऽविता वृधे च ददो वसूनि ममदश्च सोमैः ॥
इंद्र, तुम्हारे लिए एक जगह तैयार की गई है। लोग तुम्हे बुला रहे हैं, तुम आओ। तुम हमारे रक्षक बनो और हमारे लिए धन लाओ। तुम सोमा पी के खुश हो।

गृभीतं ते मन इन्द्र द्विबर्हाः सुतः सोमः परिषिक्ता मधूनि । विसृष्टधेना भरते सुवृक्तिरियमिन्द्रं जोहुवती मनीषा ॥
इंद्र, सोमा पी के तुम्हारा मन उसमे फंस गया है। यह मीठा है और ताकत वाला है। अब यह बात आगे बढ़ रही है, इंद्र को बुला रही है। यह सोच रही है कि इंद्र आए और हमारे लिए कुछ अच्छा करे।

आ नो दिव आ पृथिव्या ऋजीषिन्निदं बर्हिः सोमपेयाय याहि । वहन्तु त्वा हरयो मद्र्यञ्चमाङ्गूषमच्छा तवसं मदाय ॥
इंद्र, आसमान से और धरती से हमारे पास आओ। यहाँ सोमा पीने की जगह बनी है। तुम्हारे घोड़े तुम्हे ले कर आएं, गाना हो रहा है, तुम आओ और खुश हो।

आ नो विश्वाभिरूतिभिः सजोषा ब्रह्म जुषाणो हर्यश्व याहि । वरीवृजत्स्थविरेभिः सुशिप्रास्मे दधद्वृषणं शुष्ममिन्द्र ॥
इंद्र, अपनी सारी मदद ले कर आओ। तुम गाना सुन के खुश हो। बड़े लोगों के साथ आओ और हमारे अंदर भी ताकत भर दो। तुम्हारा बल बहुत है, हमारे लिए कुछ करो।

एष स्तोमो मह उग्राय वाहे धुरीवात्यो न वाजयन्नधायि । इन्द्र त्वायमर्क ईट्टे वसूनां दिवीव द्यामधि नः श्रोमतं धाः ॥
यह स्तोत्र बड़े और ताकतवर इंद्र के लिए है। जैसे बैल गाड़ी खींचता है, वैसे यह भी शक्ति के लिए तैयार है। इंद्र, यह गाना तुमसे धन माँगता है। हमें आसमान जैसी बड़ाई दे, जो सबको दिखाई दे।

एवा न इन्द्र वार्यस्य पूर्धि प्र ते महीं सुमतिं वेविदाम । इषं पिन्व मघवद्भ्यः सुवीरां यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥
इंद्र, हमें वो सबसे अच्छा धन दे। हम तुम्हारी बड़ी दया चाहते हैं। जो लोग देते हैं, उनको और बढ़ा दे। तुम हमेशा हमारा कल्याण करो और हमें रक्षा करो।
