This short Agni hymn invites the fire to be kindled perfectly with good fuel and a well-spread barhis, so the sacrifice becomes spacious and fit for the gods. Agni as Jātavedas is praised as the one who orders the rite, brings the immortals, and increases their powers through right offering, culminating in a prayer for distributed “treasures” (ratna) to the worshippers.

अग्ने भव सुषमिधा समिद्ध उत बर्हिरुर्विया वि स्तृणीताम् ॥
अग्नि, अच्छी लकड़ी से आग जल। अच्छा तेल डाल के तेज कर। यज्ञ के लिए बड़ा स्थान बना। ऐसे स्थान जहाँ देवा लोग आराम से आ सकें। सब कुछ साफ और खुला हो।

उत द्वार उशतीर्वि श्रयन्तामुत देवाँ उशत आ वहेह ॥
अग्नि, दरवाज़े खोल दे। वो दरवाज़े जो हम चाहते हैं वो खुल जाएँ। देवा लोगों को अंदर ला। उनको हमारे पास बुला। हम उनका इंतज़ार कर रहे हैं। उनको सही जगह पर पहुँचा दे।

अग्ने वीहि हविषा यक्षि देवान्त्स्वध्वरा कृणुहि जातवेदः ॥
अग्नि, यज्ञ के साथ आ। देवा लोगों को समर्पित कर। यज्ञ का रास्ता साफ कर दे। जातवेदस, तू सब जानता है। तू यज्ञ को सही तरीके से करवा। कोई रुकावट न आए।

स्वध्वरा करति जातवेदा यक्षद्देवाँ अमृतान्पिप्रयच्च ॥
जातवेदस यज्ञ को सही से करता है। वो अमृत देवा लोगों को समर्पित करता है। उनको खुश करता है। उनकी शक्ति बढ़ा देता है। जो लोग सही दिल से यज्ञ करते हैं, वो फायदा उठाते हैं।

वंस्व विश्वा वार्याणि प्रचेतः सत्या भवन्त्वाशिषो नो अद्य ॥
हे चमकने वाले, हमारे लिए सारी अच्छी चीज़ें जीत के लाओ। आज हमारी सारी इच्छाएँ सच हो जाएँ। जो हम दिल में चाहते हैं वो सच में हो जाए।

त्वामु ते दधिरे हव्यवाहं देवासो अग्न ऊर्ज आ नपातम् ॥
देवी-देवताओं ने तुम्हे ही चुना है, अग्नि। तुम हवा के ज़रिये हमारी भक्ति को भगवान तक पहुँचाते हो। तुम उस शक्ति के बेटा हो जो हमें ताकत देती है।

ते ते देवाय दाशतः स्याम महो नो रत्ना वि दध इयानः ॥
हम तुम्हे भगवान मान के देने वाले बनें। और तुम आगे बढ़ के हमें बड़े-बड़े खज़ाने दो। हमारे अंदर भी बहुत सारी अच्छी चीज़ें भर दो।
