Agni
This short Agni hymn praises the fire-god as the wise, ancient Seer and the upholder of riches and stability, kindled and clarified by ghee. It presents Agni as ever-newly born in the ritual cycles, a fierce protector who drives away hostility, and as the hidden “step in the cave” who awakens great abundance and brings Atri across darkness.

Mantra 1
प्र वेधसे कवये वेद्याय गिरं भरे यशसे पूर्व्याय । घृतप्रसत्तो असुरः सुशेवो रायो धर्ता धरुणो वस्वो अग्निः ॥
मैं उस वाइज़ भगवान के लिए शब्द बोल रहा हूँ। वो पुराना है और उसे जानना है। घी से चमकता हुआ अग्नि बड़ा है। वो अच्छा है और धन रखता है। वो सब कुछ संभालता है।
Mantra 2
ऋतेन ऋतं धरुणं धारयन्त यज्ञस्य शाके परमे व्योमन् । दिवो धर्मन्धरुणे सेदुषो नॄञ्जातैरजाताँ अभि ये ननक्षुः ॥
सत्य के साथ लोग सत्य को पकड़ के रखते हैं। यह ऊपर आसमान में होता है। यज्ञ की शक्ति यहाँ काम करती है। जो लोग बड़े हैं, वो अपने अंदर की शक्ति से नई चीज़ें पा लेते हैं।

अङ्होयुवस्तन्वस्तन्वते वि वयो महद्दुष्टरं पूर्व्याय । स संवतो नवजातस्तुतुर्यात्सिङ्हं न क्रुद्धमभितः परि ष्ठुः ॥
यह नया जन्मा हुआ देवता दुख दूर करता है। उसकी शक्ति बड़ी है और उसे पार करना मुश्किल है। वो हर वक़्त पैदा होता है और आगे बढ़ता है। वो शेर जैसा है, दुश्मन उससे दूर रहते हैं।

मातेव यद्भरसे पप्रथानो जनंजनं धायसे चक्षसे च । वयोवयो जरसे यद्दधानः परि त्मना विषुरूपो जिगासि ॥
जैसे माँ अपने बच्चे को पालती है, वैसे यह सब लोगों को पालता है। वो सबको देखने की शक्ति देता है। वो हर तरह की शक्ति लेकर बढ़ता है। वो अलग-अलग रूप में सब जगह है।

वाजो नु ते शवसस्पात्वन्तमुरुं दोघं धरुणं देव रायः । पदं न तायुर्गुहा दधानो महो राये चितयन्नत्रिमस्पः ॥
भगवान, तुम्हारी ताकत की दुआ है कि वो हद तक हमें रखे। तुम्हारी कृपा इतनी बड़ी है जैसे कोई खुला दूध मिल रहा हो। जैसे कोई मुसाफिर रास्ते में अपना कदम छुपा के रख लेता है, तुम भी अंदर कदम रख देते हो। बड़ी कृपा को जगा के तुम अत्रि को पार ले जाते हो।
