This hymn praises Mitra as the Āditya who speaks and establishes the “right word,” setting human communities into orderly, harmonious movement. It presents Mitra as the steady upholder of Heaven and Earth, the all-seeing guardian of social truth and right conduct, and urges clarified offerings through Agni to gain his favor, protection, and prosperity.

मित्रो जनान्यातयति ब्रुवाणो मित्रो दाधार पृथिवीमुत द्याम् । मित्रः कृष्टीरनिमिषाभि चष्टे मित्राय हव्यं घृतवज्जुहोत ॥
मित्र भगवान लोगों को सही रास्ता दिखाते हैं। वो धरती और आसमान को संभालते हैं। वो सब लोगों को देखते हैं, उनकी आँख नहीं झपकती। मित्र के लिए घी डालके हवन करो।

प्र स मित्र मर्तो अस्तु प्रयस्वान्यस्त आदित्य शिक्षति व्रतेन । न हन्यते न जीयते त्वोतो नैनमंहो अश्नोत्यन्तितो न दूरात् ॥
मित्र के साथ चलनेवाला इंसान आगे बढ़ता है। वो आदित्य से सीखता है और सही काम करता है। उसे कोई मार नहीं सकता, कोई हरा नहीं सकता। मित्र उसे बचाते हैं, तो कोई दुख पास से भी नहीं पहुँचता।

अनमीवास इळया मदन्तो मितज्ञवो वरिमन्ना पृथिव्याः । आदित्यस्य व्रतमुपक्षियन्तो वयं मित्रस्य सुमतौ स्याम ॥
हम बिमारी से फ्री रहें, खुश रहें और सही रास्ता समझें। यह धरती की नीव से शुरू होता है। हम आदित्य के नियम फॉलो करें। मित्र की सही सोच में हम खुश रहें।

अयं मित्रो नमस्यः सुशेवो राजा सुक्षत्रो अजनिष्ट वेधाः । तस्य वयं सुमतौ यज्ञियस्यापि भद्रे सौमनसे स्याम ॥
मित्र को प्रणाम करना चाहिए। वो अच्छा है, अच्छा राज करता है, और समझदार है। उनकी सही सोच में हम खुश रहें। हम अपने मन में शांति महसूस करें।

महाँ आदित्यो नमसोपसद्यो यातयज्जनो गृणते सुशेवः । तस्मा एतत्पन्यतमाय जुष्टमग्नौ मित्राय हविरा जुहोत ॥
आदित्य बड़ा है, उनके पास जाना आसान है। वो लोगों को सही रास्ता दिखाता है। अग्नि में मित्र के लिए हवन डालो। यह उनको पसंद आता है क्योंकि वो बहुत अच्छे हैं।

मित्रस्य चर्षणीधृतोऽवो देवस्य सानसि । द्युम्नं चित्रश्रवस्तमम् ॥
मित्र की मदद पाओ जो लोगों को संभालते हैं। उनकी तरफ से ताकत और नाम पाओ। उनकी क्या खुशी है वो सुनो और फैलाओ।

अभि यो महिना दिवं मित्रो बभूव सप्रथाः । अभि श्रवोभिः पृथिवीम् ॥
जिसने अपनी बड़ाई से मित्र बना, वो आसमान पूरा फैल गया। अपनी सुनने की ताकत से धरती पूरा फैल गया।

मित्राय पञ्च येमिरे जना अभिष्टिशवसे । स देवान्विश्वान्बिभर्ति ॥
पाँच प्रजा मित्र के साथ जुड़ जाती हैं। यह ताकत के लिए करते हैं, जो मदद करती है और जीत दिलाती है। मित्र सारे देवताओं को संभाल के रखता है। वो सब को एक साथ रखता है।

मित्रो देवेष्वायुषु जनाय वृक्तबर्हिषे । इष इष्टव्रता अकः ॥
मित्र देवताओं में रहता है और ज़िन्दगी की धारों में भी। वो उस इंसान के लिए काम करता है जिसने अपनी पूजा की जगह तैयार कर ली है। जो लोग अपने धरम को पूरा करते हैं, उनको वो खुशाली देता है।
