Sukta 3.42
tvā́ṁ sुतásya pītáye prátनाम indra havāmahe | कुśikā́so avasyávaḥ ||
We invoke the ancient Indra to drink the pressed Soma; we Kuśikas seek his help and protection.
The Kuśika seekers call the ‘pratna’ Indra—the timeless, ever-present illumined consciousness—for the drinking of the pressed delight. The community of aspirants (kuśikāsaḥ) identifies itself as avasyavaḥ: those who yearn for aid, shelter, and guidance—i.e., for the sustaining presence of the higher mind-force in the journey.
Spiritual practice is a continual invocation of the timeless higher consciousness; the seeker thrives by repeatedly offering purified delight and asking for protection and guidance against inner disorder.
