Sukta 10.85
सोमो ददद्गन्धर्वाय गन्धर्वो दददग्नये । रयिं च पुत्राँश्चादादग्निर्मह्यमथो इमाम् ॥
sómō dadad gandharvā́ya gandharvó dadad agnáye | rayíṃ ca putrā́ṃś cādād agnír máhyam átho imā́m ||
सोम ने उसें गंधर्व को दिया। गंधर्व ने अग्नि को दिया। और अग्नि ने मुझे यह दुल्हन दी। साथ में दौलत और बेटे भी मिले।
Vivāha: formal ‘giving away’ and consecration; also mirrors Soma-sacrifice logic of mediated offering
Ṛta as lawful transmission, Dāna (sacred giving) as spiritual circulation, Fecundity as continuity of consciousness
Transmission is orderly and guarded; possession is legitimate only after consecration (Agni).
Rayi and putrāḥ are fruits of truth-held union, not mere acquisition.
From subtle essence to embodied abundance; the future is generated by a sanctified present.
Integral psychological Vedism: graded manifestation of powers into life.
night-to-morning transition (implicit Soma to Agni)
Nectar = inward joy; music/fragrance = refined vital harmony; fire = will that fixes truth; abundance/children = manifested capacities and future growth.
Receive life-gifts only after inner consecration; cultivate plenitude and generative powers.
anāhata (receiving in love) guided by maṇipūra (Agni consecration)
Inhale ‘Soma’ (sweetness in the heart), exhale ‘Agni’ (clarity in the will); end with a silent pause feeling ‘rayi’ as fullness.
Grateful, consecrated, fruitful.
When receiving or claiming something significant, pass it through three inner checks: (1) does it carry pure delight without addiction (Soma)? (2) does it harmonize the being (Gandharva)? (3) can it be consecrated to truth and discipline (Agni)? Then accept it and dedicate its fruits (rayi/putrāḥ) to growth and service.
Vedic accents per Saṃhitā; Triṣṭubh pacing with clear clause boundaries matching the handover sequence.
Mark each ‘dadad/dadat’ with crisp articulation to emphasize transmission; land firmly on ‘agnir mahyam’ as the culmination.
: keep final ‘d’ light, avoid adding vowel, : long ‘āy’ glide, : ‘gn’ cluster clean, : nasalization/light anusvāra; short ‘iṃ’, : maintain nasalized long ‘ā̃’ and ‘ś c’ junction
Clear, grateful, slightly uplifted at the culmination.
