Sukta 10.173
ध्रुवं ते राजा वरुणो ध्रुवं देवो बृहस्पतिः । ध्रुवं त इन्द्रश्चाग्निश्च राष्ट्रं धारयतां ध्रुवम् ॥
dhruváṃ te rājā́ váruṇo dhruváṃ devó bृहáspátiḥ | dhruváṃ ta índraś cā́gniś ca rāṣṭráṃ dhārayatāṃ dhruvám ||
राजा वरुण तुम्हारा राज्य पक्का करे। भगवान बृहस्पति भी पक्का करे। इंद्र और अग्नि भी इस राज्य को संभाले, ताकि तुम्हारा काम हिलने न पाए।
Royal stability and protection formula: invokes juridical order (Varuṇa), right counsel/mantra (Bṛhaspati), force (Indra), and purifying will (Agni) to uphold sovereignty.
Ṛta (Varuṇa’s law), Brahman (Bṛhaspati’s word-power), Vīrya (Indra’s force), Tapas/Purification (Agni)
Varuṇa is explicit carrier of ṛta; the others operationalize ṛta in thought, victory, and action.
Dhruva firmness is the steadiness of satya when embodied as governance of life.
Cosmos as a sustained polity: powers cooperate to hold the world-order.
Integrative Vedic theism moving toward inner functional psychology (deities as soul-powers).
Fire = will; Vast sky/oceanic law = truth-purity; Lightning = illumination; Sacred word = organizing vibration of consciousness.
Fourfold alignment: (1) truth-vastness, (2) right discernment/word, (3) illumined courage, (4) steady will—then offer your ‘realm’ (daily life) to be upheld.
viśuddha (Bṛhaspati/word) + maṇipūra (Agni/Indra power) with a stabilizing base at mūlādhāra (dhruva)
Box-breath 4-4-4-4 while mentally invoking the four deities in sequence.
Integrated governance (inner rājya): thoughts, speech, energy, action in one order.
Before decisions: recite once slowly, then pause and ask: Is it true (Varuṇa)? Is it wise (Bṛhaspati)? Is it courageous/clear (Indra)? Is it executable and purifying (Agni)?
Maintain Vedic udātta peaks on deity-names and ‘dhruvám’; keep the repeated ‘dhruvám’ consistent in pitch contour per recension.
Do not rush deity compounds; give clear caesura after each ‘dhruvam’.
(varuṇo): retroflex ṇ; short final ‘o’, (bṛhaspatiḥ): vocalic ṛ; aspirate ‘bh’; final visarga audible, (rāṣṭram): long ā; retroflex ṣṭ cluster cleanly articulated
Noble, steady, slightly resonant; articulate consonant clusters carefully.
