Sūrya / the Great Light (Bṛhat, Vibhrāṭ) with Soma as sustenance; possibly a solar hymn within Soma liturgy
This brief hymn praises Sūrya as the supreme, all-pervading Light (Bṛhat, Vibhrāṭ) who drinks the Soma-honey and thereby stabilizes life-force and sacrifice. It portrays the Sun as self-sustaining, wind-driven in motion, guarding beings, and radiating manifoldly while upholding all worlds through the cosmic workmanship (Viśvakarman) and the support of the All-Gods.

विभ्राड्बृहत्पिबतु सोम्यं मध्वायुर्दधद्यज्ञपतावविह्रुतम् । वातजूतो यो अभिरक्षति त्मना प्रजाः पुपोष पुरुधा वि राजति ॥
वो बड़ी शक्ति सोम रस पिए और यज्ञ के स्वामी में जान डाले। हवा उसके पीछे है और वो अपने आप में सबको बचाता है। वो सबको बढ़ाता है और कई तरह से चमकता है।

विभ्राड्बृहत्सुभृतं वाजसातमं धर्मन्दिवो धरुणे सत्यमर्पितम् । अमित्रहा वृत्रहा दस्युहन्तमं ज्योतिर्जज्ञे असुरहा सपत्नहा ॥
वो बड़ी चमकदार शक्ति पक्की है और जीत लेती है। यह आसमान का नियम है जो सच में स्थिर है। यह रोशनी दुश्मनों को मारती है, अंधेरा दूर करती है और बुरी शक्तियों को हरा देती है।

इदं श्रेष्ठं ज्योतिषां ज्योतिरुत्तमं विश्वजिद्धनजिदुच्यते बृहत् । विश्वभ्राड्भ्राजो महि सूर्यो दृश उरु पप्रथे सह ओजो अच्युतम् ॥
यह सबसे बड़ी रोशनी है, सबसे ऊपर वाली। इसको बृहत कहते हैं क्योंकि यह दुनिया जीतती है और धन देती है। यह सूरज जैसी चमक है जो सबको दिखती है। इसकी ताकत बहुत फैली हुई है और कभी कम नहीं होती।

विभ्राजञ्ज्योतिषा स्वरगच्छो रोचनं दिवः । येनेमा विश्वा भुवनान्याभृता विश्वकर्मणा विश्वदेव्यावता ॥
तू अपनी रोशनी लेकर सूरज की दुनिया में गया है। आसमान का वो चमकता हिस्सा तेरा है। तूने ही सारी दुनिया को संभाला है। तू ही सब काम करता है, और सब देवी-देवता तेरे साथ हैं।
