Agni
Gāyatrī (probable; compact 3-pāda structure typical of gāyatrī-style address)
This short Agni-hymn portrays the sacrificial fire rising when rightly kindled, delighting in ghee, and guarding the offering by striking down the hostile “devourer” (atriṇa). It praises Agni as the immortal gṛhapati (lord of the dwelling), invoked among mortals to protect, purify, and establish the rite in its correct order.

अग्ने हंसि न्यत्रिणं दीद्यन्मर्त्येष्वा । स्वे क्षये शुचिव्रत ॥
हे अग्नि, तू इंसानों में चमक रहा है। तू उसको मार देता है जो कुछ भी चुराने की कोशिश करे। अपने घर में तू खड़ा है, बिल्कुल साफ और सच्चे इरादे से।

उत्तिष्ठसि स्वाहुतो घृतानि प्रति मोदसे । यत्त्वा स्रुचः समस्थिरन् ॥
तू उठ, जब तुझे बुलाया जाता है। तू खुशी से घी की धारों को देखता है। जो लाडले हैं, वो तुझे सही जगह पे सेट कर देते हैं। यह ऑफरिंग का सही तरीका है।

स आहुतो वि रोचतेऽग्निरीळेन्यो गिरा । स्रुचा प्रतीकमज्यते ॥
जब लोग अग्नि को बुलाते हैं, वो चमकने लगता है। मंत्र की आवाज़ से वो सबको पसंद आने लगता है। स्रुचि से उसका चेहरा तेल लगाया जाता है, जैसे तैयार हो रहा हो।

घृतेनाग्निः समज्यते मधुप्रतीक आहुतः । रोचमानो विभावसुः ॥
घी से अग्नि को पूरा तेल लगाया जाता है। जब बुलाया जाता है, उसका चेहरा मीठा हो जाता है जैसे शहद। वो चमकता है और उजाला फैलाता है।

जरमाणः समिध्यसे देवेभ्यो हव्यवाहन । तं त्वा हवन्त मर्त्याः ॥
अग्नि, तुम्हारी आग बढ़ती रहती है। देवियों के लिए तुम जलते हो, हवा ले कर जाते हो। लोग तुम्हे बुलाते हैं क्योंकि तुम उनकी राह दिखाते हो।

तं मर्ता अमर्त्यं घृतेनाग्निं सपर्यत । अदाभ्यं गृहपतिम् ॥
लोग घी से उस अग्नि की पूजा करते हैं जो कभी नहीं मरता। वो घर का मालिक है, उसे कोई हरा नहीं सकता। वो आत्मा के घर का रक्षक है।

अदाभ्येन शोचिषाग्ने रक्षस्त्वं दह । गोपा ऋतस्य दीदिहि ॥
अग्नि, तुम्हारी आग को कोई नहीं हरा सकता। उससे बुरी चीज़ों को जला दो। सत्य की रक्षा करो और अंधेरा दूर करो।

स त्वमग्ने प्रतीकेन प्रत्योष यातुधान्यः । उरुक्षयेषु दीद्यत् ॥
अग्नि, तुम अपनी आग से जादुगरनी लोगों को भगा देते हो। जो लोग बुरा काम करते हैं, उन्हे तुम जलाके दूर कर देते हो। तुम लोगों के घर में चमकते हो और सबको सुरक्षित रखने का रास्ता बनाते हो।

तं त्वा गीर्भिरुरुक्षया हव्यवाहं समीधिरे । यजिष्ठं मानुषे जने ॥
लोग तुम्हे भजन और गीत से पुकारते हैं। अग्नि, तुम हवा के जैसे सब जगह हो। लोग तुम्हे आग जलाके बुलाते हैं। इंसान के बीच में यज्ञ के काम में तुम सबसे बड़े हो।
