Maruts
Triṣṭubh (probable)
This hymn is a dynamic invitation to the Maruts to arrive swiftly on their lightning-bright chariots and pour abundance, vigor, and protective power into the sacrificer’s space. It emphasizes that the poets (the Gotamas) raise effective mantra-force (brahman) that “lifts up” the wellspring of delight, so the Maruts may drink and, in turn, empower the community with increase and right-ordered energy.

आ विद्युन्मद्भिर्मरुतः स्वर्कै रथेभिर्यात ऋष्टिमद्भिरश्वपर्णैः । आ वर्षिष्ठया न इषा वयो न पप्तता सुमायाः ॥
मरुत देवता, बिजली और चमक के साथ आओ। तुम्हारी रथें सूरज जैसी चमकदार हैं, घोड़ों के पास पंख हैं। तुम पूरी ताकत के साथ आओ, जैसे चिड़िया उड़ती है। तुम अपनी शक्ति और सुंदरता हमारे पास लाओ।

तेऽरुणेभिर्वरमा पिशङ्गैः शुभे कं यान्ति रथतूर्भिरश्वैः । रुक्मो न चित्रः स्वधितीवान्पव्या रथस्य जङ्घनन्त भूम ॥
मरुत देवता अपने रंग-बिरंगे घोड़ों के साथ अच्छे स्थान पर जा रहे हैं। उनके रथ बहुत तेज़ हैं, जैसे कोई चमकदार गेहना हो। उनके रथ के पहिए ज़मीन पर टकराते हैं और रास्ते को साफ करते हैं।

श्रिये कं वो अधि तनूषु वाशीर्मेधा वना न कृणवन्त ऊर्ध्वा । युष्मभ्यं कं मरुतः सुजातास्तुविद्युम्नासो धनयन्ते अद्रिम् ॥
मरुत देवता की बॉडी पर चमक और बुद्धि दोनों उगते हैं, जैसे जंगल में पेड़ ऊपर जाते हैं। तुम लोग अच्छे खास हो और तुम्हारी शक्ति बड़ी है। तुम छुपा हुआ खज़ाना और ताकत निकाल सकते हो।

अहानि गृध्राः पर्या व आगुरिमां धियं वार्कार्यां च देवीम् । ब्रह्म कृण्वन्तो गोतमासो अर्कैरूर्ध्वं नुनुद्र उत्सधिं पिबध्यै ॥
दिन के बाद दिन, जैसे बाज़ नज़र रखता है, वैसे ही गोतम रिशि तुम्हारे पास आए हैं। वो अपने मंत्रों से भगवान की शक्ति बना रहे हैं। उन्होंने उस शक्ति को ऊपर उठाया है ताकि हम उस सुख को पा सकें।

एतत्त्यन्न योजनमचेति सस्वर्ह यन्मरुतो गोतमो वः । पश्यन्हिरण्यचक्रानयोदंष्ट्रान्विधावतो वराहून् ॥
यह वो बात है जो किसी और की नहीं। गोतम ने मरुत देवताओं को देखा। वो सोने के पहिए वाले थे। उनके दाँत लोहे के जैसे थे। वो सूअर के रूप में आए जो रास्ते में जो भी रुकावट थी, उसे तोड़ के आगे बढ़ गए।

एषा स्या वो मरुतोऽनुभर्त्री प्रति ष्टोभति वाघतो न वाणी । अस्तोभयद्वृथासामनु स्वधां गभस्त्योः ॥
मरुत देवताओं के पास एक आवाज़ है जो उनका साथ देती है। यह आवाज़ वैसे ही जवाब देती है जैसे कोई भक्त पूजा में बोलता है। यह आवाज़ उनके हाथों में गुनगुनाती है। वो अपनी मर्ज़ी से चलती है और उनकी शक्ति को साथ लेकर चलती है।
