This brief Uṣas hymn invites Dawn to arrive from the luminous heights with her auspicious powers, bringing wakefulness, order, and the right rhythms of life. It depicts all beings—winged, two-footed, and four-footed—stirring into motion in accordance with ṛta (cosmic truth), as her rays illumine the whole shining realm. The Kāṇvas conclude by explicitly calling her with inspired speech, seeking true riches and inner clarity.

उषो भद्रेभिरा गहि दिवश्चिद्रोचनादधि । वहन्त्वरुणप्सव उप त्वा सोमिनो गृहम् ॥
उषा, अच्छी शक्तियों के साथ आ। आसमान की रोशनी वाली जगह से आ। लाल चमक वाली ताकतें तुम्हे ले कर आएँ। हमें सोम ढूँढने वाले के घर तक पहुँचाओ।

सुपेशसं सुखं रथं यमध्यस्था उषस्त्वम् । तेना सुश्रवसं जनं प्रावाद्य दुहितर्दिवः ॥
उषा, तुम एक अच्छा और सुंदर रथ पे सवार हो। वो रथ खुशियों से भरा है। आज उस रथ से इंसान को आगे बढ़ाओ। लोग उसकी अच्छी बातें सुनें, उसका नाम बने। आसमान की बेटी, हमें बचा और ले चल।

वयश्चित्ते पतत्रिणो द्विपच्चतुष्पदर्जुनि । उषः प्रारन्नृतूँरनु दिवो अन्तेभ्यस्परि ॥
उषा, तुम्हारी वजह से पंछी उड़ते हैं। दो पाँव वाले और चार पाँव वाले सब निकल पड़े हैं। तुम्हारी चमक में सब सचाई के साथ चलते हैं। आसमान के किनारे से लेकर सब घूमे आ रहे हैं।

व्युच्छन्ती हि रश्मिभिर्विश्वमाभासि रोचनम् । तां त्वामुषर्वसूयवो गीर्भिः कण्वा अहूषत ॥
जब तू सुबह उठती है तो अपनी किरणों के साथ चमकने लगती है। सारी दुनिया तेरी रोशनी से जगमग करती है। इसलिए कण्व ऋषि तुझे अपने शब्दों से पुकारते हैं। यह वो लोग हैं जो सच्चा धरम ढूंढते हैं।
