This six-verse Triṣṭubh hymn invokes Soma-empowered Indra, praising the surge of exhilaration (mada) that makes him the “thousand-winning” champion and asking him to renew victorious power for the worshippers. It recalls Indra’s mythic rescues—recovering the Sun/light, striking Śuṣṇa, and aiding Kútsa—so that the same decisive force may break present obstacles and grant strength, gain, and swift gifts.

मत्स्यपायि ते महः पात्रस्येव हरिवो मत्सरो मदः । वृषा ते वृष्ण इन्दुर्वाजी सहस्रसातमः ॥
हे इंद्र, तुमने बड़ा नशा किया है, जैसे कोई बड़ा गिलास से पी के। यह सोम रस तुम्हारे लिए तैयार है। तुम तो बलवान हो, और यह रस तुम्हारी ताकत को और बढ़ा देता है। हज़ारों लोगों पर जीत वाली शक्ति तुम्हे मिलती है।

आ नस्ते गन्तु मत्सरो वृषा मदो वरेण्यः । सहावाँ इन्द्र सानसिः पृतनाषाळमर्त्यः ॥
इंद्र, तेरा वो मस्ती भरा नशा हमारे पास आए। तू है तो बलवान, दुश्मनों पे जीत करने वाला। तू हमारे साथ आ, और हमारी तरफ से जीत पक्की कर दे। तू मरने वाला नही, तू अमर शक्ति है।

त्वं हि शूरः सनिता चोदयो मनुषो रथम् । सहावान्दस्युमव्रतमोषः पात्रं न शोचिषा ॥
तू ही तो हीरो है, जीत करने वाला। तू इंसान की रथ को आगे बढ़ाता है। तेरी ताकत से वो बुरा लोग जो कोई नियम नहीं मानते, वो आग की तरह जल के राख हो जाते हैं। तू रास्ता साफ करता है।

मुषाय सूर्यं कवे चक्रमीशान ओजसा । वह शुष्णाय वधं कुत्सं वातस्याश्वैः ॥
हे ऋषि, सूरज को वापस ले आ। अपनी शक्ति से उसका चक्र पकड़। शुष्णा नाम के दुश्मन को मार, और कुत्सा को वायु के घोड़ों पे बिठा के ले जा। तेज शक्ति से खोया हुआ उजाला वापस लाओ।

शुष्मिन्तमो हि ते मदो द्युम्निन्तम उत क्रतुः । वृत्रघ्ना वरिवोविदा मंसीष्ठा अश्वसातमः ॥
तेरा नशा सबसे तगड़ा है, और तेरी इच्छा में सबसे ज़्यादा चमक है। हे वृत्र के मारे वाले, तू वो रास्ता जानता है जो सबसे वाइड है। हमारे अंदर अच्छा सोचने वाली शक्ति और जीत की ताकत बना दे।

यथा पूर्वेभ्यो जरितृभ्य इन्द्र मय इवापो न तृष्यते बभूथ । तामनु त्वा निविदं जोहवीमि विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥
इंद्र, तूने पहले भी जो लोग भजन करते थे, उनका काम बना दिया। जैसे पानी प्यास बुझा देता है, वैसे ही तूने उनकी मदद की। मैं अब तुम्हे पुकारता हूँ। हम चाहते हैं कि तुम हमें भी ऐसा ही करो। तुम जो देते हो, वो जल्दी मिलता है। हम भी जीतना चाहते हैं।
