Ramcharitmanas: Bala Kanda, Prakarana 13

bole bihasi mahesa taba gyānī mūṛha na koi |jehi jasa raghupati karahiṃ jaba so tasa tehi chana hoi ||124(ka)||

kahauṃ rāma guna gātha bharadvāja sādara sunahu |bhava-bhañjana raghunātha bhaju tulasī taji māna mada ||124(kha)||

The prasanga

Within the Yajnavalkya–Bharadwaja dialogue stream, Shiva’s utterance is reported as authoritative instruction introducing or validating the narration of Rama’s virtues and the proper inner disposition (humility) for hearing.

Themes

For right living (Ramrajya ethics)

Humility as civic and personal dharma: rejection of ego-pride (māna, mada) and acceptance of divine order, which stabilizes social harmony and restrains self-will.

Nirguna and saguna

The verse affirms a transcendent divine sovereignty (beyond human categories of wise/foolish) while directing practice toward the manifest Lord ‘Raghunath’ through guṇa-kathā and bhajana—thus letting nirguna transcendence be approached via saguna worship.

FAQs
