राजा, गंगा को भागीरथी भी कहते हैं और त्रिपथगा भी। लोग उसे त्रिपथगा इसलिए कहते हैं क्योंकि वो तीनों दुनिया को साफ करती है।
O King! divine Ganga will be called Tripathaga as well as Bhagirathi. Since she flows in the three worlds (heaven, earth and the lower world: Patala), she will be known asTripathaga.
Dharma is linked with purification and uplift across realms: the sacred is that which benefits broadly (not privately), symbolized by Gaṅgā’s reach through ‘three paths’.
The speaker explains Gaṅgā’s epithets and the rationale behind the title Tripathagā.
Loka-saṅgraha (holding the world together): the divine function of sustaining and purifying life in multiple spheres.
