नरशार्दूल, राजा के बेटे जंबूद्वीप को खोद रहे थे। वहाँ पर बहुत पहाड़ थे, फिर भी वो हर तरफ़ घूमे और ज़मीन खोदते रहे।
O Foremost among men (Rama)! the princes while thus excavating Jambu dweepa, inthis way filled with mountains, moved around everywhere.
Even rightful aims become unrighteous when pursued by destructive means; ends do not sanctify excess.
Practice of restraint: channel effort without harming the ‘field’ (kṣetra)—body, land, relationships—through mindful limits.
The mind that searches outward in all directions (bahirmukhatā) fails to find the true object; inward discernment is required.
Muṇḍaka/Kaṭha motif: turning from outward pursuits toward the inner source; otherwise one ‘circles’ endlessly.
Bhāgavata Purāṇa 9.8 (search across regions; digging motif)
Purāṇic geography of Jambūdvīpa as central continent
Rāmāyaṇa 1.39: continuation of the sons’ exhaustive search leading to underworld descent

Narrative
Steady madhyama with slight acceleration on ‘sarvataḥ paricakramuḥ’ to convey roaming
Dharma requires that searching for truth be tempered by non-injury; wide-ranging effort is not righteous if it becomes destructive to the world.
Sagara’s sons traverse and excavate across Jambūdvīpa in all directions as part of the horse-search.
Energy and determination, though the narrative framing prepares the ethical critique of uncontrolled pursuit.
