Narada’s Summary to Valmiki
अनुमान्य तदा तारां सुग्रीवेण समागतः ।
निजघान च तत्रैनं शरेणैकेन राघवः ॥६९॥
anumānya tadā tārāṃ sugrīveṇa samāgataḥ |
nijaghāna ca tatra enaṃ śareṇaikena rāghavaḥ ||69||
तारा ने वाली को समझाया कि डरो मत। फिर वाली और सुग्रीव लड़ने लगे। राम ने एक ही तीर चलाया। उस तीर से वाली वही गिर गया।
After convincing his wife Tara, who was dissuading from this, Vali entered into a combat with Sugriva. There, Rama killed Vali with a single shaft.
The verse foregrounds satya to a pledged alliance: Rāma acts to fulfill his promise to Sugrīva. It also hints at the social-ethical dimension—Tārā’s counsel is acknowledged before the fatal decision unfolds.
Vāli, after addressing Tārā’s intervention, confronts Sugrīva; Rāma then kills Vāli with one arrow, resolving the immediate power struggle.
Rāma’s steadfastness to his word and his role as an effective protector of an ally; Tārā’s prudent counsel appears as a voice of caution within the conflict.
