The citizens and Dasaratha followed Rama for a long distance. Rama of righteous nature having approached Guha, king of nishadas, at Shrungiberapura sent back charioteer Sumantra and Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana crossed river Ganga.
This verse exemplifies the supreme Dharma of filial obedience and sacrifice. Rama, though a prince entitled to the throne, willingly proceeds to exile to honor his father's word, demonstrating that Dharma demands placing one's duty above personal desires and royal privileges.
Rama, accompanied by Sita and Lakshmana, has left Ayodhya for exile. Citizens and King Dasaratha follow him in grief. At Shrngaberapura on the Ganga's banks, Rama meets Guha, the Nishada king, sends back the royal charioteer Sumantra, and prepares to cross the river into the forest.
The virtue of Dharmatma (righteous-souled nature) is emphasized in Rama. Despite being exiled, he maintains composure, shows respect by sending back the charioteer, and accepts Guha's friendship, demonstrating equanimity and grace in adversity.
