Surely Lakshmana of great merit and auspicious virtues is fortunate since he is accompanying his brother Rama in times of adversity.
In adversity, dharma is upheld through loyal companionship and selfless service to the righteous.
Model for dāsya-bhakti: serving the Lord/ideal person unwaveringly in hardship.
Lakshmana’s self-effacing accompaniment mirrors the ideal of karma-yoga—action as service without personal claim.
The spirit of ‘saha nāv avatu’ (togetherness in pursuit/protection) is echoed as fraternal solidarity in hardship.
Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa: multiple Ayodhyā- and Araṇya-kāṇḍa passages praising Lakshmana’s anuvṛtti (following) and service
Mahābhārata: ideals of brotherly loyalty (e.g., Bhīma/Arjuna supporting Yudhiṣṭhira) as thematic parallel
Ayodhyākāṇḍa: Lakshmana’s insistence on accompanying Rama into exile
Anuṣṭup (śloka)
Praising, firm
Uccāraṇa with uplift (madhyama to tāra emphasis)
Bhrātṛ-dharma—steadfast duty to one’s brother—shown through loyal accompaniment during hardship rather than comfort-seeking.
Rāma has gone to the forest due to exile; the speaker reflects on Lakṣmaṇa’s choice to accompany him in adversity.
Lakṣmaṇa’s fidelity and courage: unwavering support of Rāma when circumstances become perilous.
