Setting: Ayodhyā (implied)Places named: arājaka janapada (kingless realm)

In a kingdom without a king wealth cannot be preserved, no wife would like to stay (with her husband). There is one more cause for a great peril, that is, there is no place for truth in a country (where there is no king).
Without rāja-dharma, not only property and domestic security but even satya loses standing in public life; governance is a moral infrastructure.
Sādhana of satya paired with responsibility to uphold just structures; inner truth needs outer discipline to manifest in society.
Satya is ultimately self-established (svataḥ-siddha) at the absolute level, yet in vyavahāra it requires institutions; the verse highlights the gap between pāramārthika and vyāvahārika satya.
‘Satyam’ as a supreme value (e.g., satyam vada) is echoed, but here its worldly standing is shown to depend on rāja-dharma.
Mahābhārata Śānti Parva (satya and dharma protected by daṇḍa); Kauṭilīya Arthaśāstra 1.4 (anarchy destroys property and order); Manusmṛti 7 (king as protector of dharma and social stability)
Vedic injunctions on satya (satyam vada) contrasted with political necessity
Ayodhyākāṇḍa 2.67.10 (agriculture/household order fail without king)
Anuṣṭup (śloka)
Commanding
Tīvra, madhyama-tāra sañcāra
Satya (truth) requires institutional protection; without rājadharma, truth and trust erode, and even basic social goods (wealth, family stability) become insecure.
Amid succession uncertainty, speakers warn that the absence of a king leads to moral and material collapse, culminating in the disappearance of truth.
The civic virtue of upholding truth through lawful authority—governance is portrayed as a safeguard for satya in public life.
